A pale figure strides in profile on tiptoe, head bowed under a long horn, one arm arching overhead, the other trailing claw-tipped fingers. From the shoulder blades a cream membrane spreads into spikes, blue showing in its hollows. Sand wall, striped floor, a long shadow.
The legs and buttock are anatomy at full polish: calf, thigh and tendon drawn like a dissection plate. The finish is complete, and the image does not let it stand. The membrane grows out of the spine with the same cracked skin, red-bruised where it joins. Where the smooth body should close the figure, a second structure opens it.
On a wall, the figure asks for distance. The legs can be admired in a glance, and the spiked back does not allow that glance to end there. The horn and the claws keep it from becoming ornament.
