A figure leaps in profile, head bowed, three curved horns rising from the skull and blue hair streaming back. Torn cream cloth swells around the body, stained red at the chest, the arm and the ankles. Bare feet hang below, over an even beige field.
The face is calm and finished. Then the cloth climbs the chest, fused to the skin, its tears and red stains running into the flesh with no edge between them. This person is a knot tied for the length of one leap in fibre and matter that was there before and will go on after. The stains are the clock.
Beside it, the seasons change what the cloth does. In winter light it reads as bandage, in summer as sail. After some years, the bowed face is what stays steady, and your own skin feels borrowed from what surrounds it.
