A head, frontal and close — classical in its proportions, carved from paint and aged ground. The jaw, the mouth, the throat: each rendered with the density of old stone. Above them, the upper face is overtaken by concentric rings of pale rose and violet, layered and overlapping, displacing the features they cover without erasing the skull beneath. The ground is deep blue, brushed and worn at its edges. Gold traces surface through the teal and ochre of the skin, not as ornament but as residue. The coiled structure over the eyes neither blinds nor decorates — it occupies, holding the place where recognition would begin and making that beginning impossible. The mouth remains. It is the only feature that does not negotiate.
