A figure folds into itself — head resting in the cup of a hand, eyes closed, knees drawn close. The skin carries the texture of old fresco: cracked, patinated, somewhere between flesh and mineral. The body reads as sculpture before it reads as person. Around it, an ornamental ground of deep blue and worn gold — architectural, almost heraldic — presses against the figure without framing it. Body and background share the same state of erosion. Neither dominates. The image holds this contact without resolving it.
