A head inclined downward, eyes closed, chin dropped toward the chest. Dense contour lines follow the topography of the face — cheekbone, orbital socket, jaw — layering until the skin reads as engraved stone. Where the lines concentrate, the face darkens; where they thin, pale ground shows through. The body below is paint: teal, rust, near-black, applied in broad planes that carry no line at all. Two systems occupy the same figure without converging. The drawn surface maps what is there; the painted mass refuses that mapping. The rust at the chest breaks through the dark ground like mineral pigment from beneath a wall. Neither system accounts for the other. The image holds both states — rendered and raw — at exactly the point where one should resolve into the other.
