A head tilts downward, eyes closed, the face divided into plates that do not align. The primary plane — warm stone, beige and ochre, scored with dense engraved lines — lifts away from a second face beneath it: cooler, grey-marbled, a jaw and closed eye emerging at a different angle. Below both, the neck dissolves into black and raw sienna, unresolved material.
The engraved line-work runs across every surface without distinction — it crosses face and void and fragment equally, indifferent to what it describes. This is what holds the image: not the division of planes but their shared texture, the insistence that what has come apart was once the same substance. The downward tilt offers no resolution. The eyes remain shut.
