A figure kneels and twists upward, one hand raised — fingers splayed, reaching or warning. The torso is split open at its center: red fibrous matter, sinew or root, radiates outward from the chest cavity like a knot pulled tight from within. Blue-grey plaster covers the skull and limbs. White and ochre peel away from the trunk in competing sheets. Dark pigment drips from the elbows and the rectangle's edge. Two geometries compete: the body's spiral against the ruled frame that contains it without enclosing it. The figure exceeds the border at every extremity — foot, hand, skull — while the interior holds the only colour with real temperature. Everything structural has fractured outward. Everything visceral has drawn inward. The raised hand insists on address, but the face has already turned away from whoever it might speak to.
