Head tilted back, throat exposed, mouth open to its limit. The face has become stone — blue-grey mineral, fractured along gold-filled seams in the manner of kintsugi, the cracks running across cheekbone and skull without deference to anatomy. Below the jaw, the chest dissolves into crystal and exposed structure: bone or root, pale and fibrous against layers of amethyst and slate. The open mouth is the one place where flesh remains flesh — wet, interior, unmediated by the mineral surface that has claimed everything else. That cavity holds the image's central conflict: the body turning outward at the exact point where it has turned most completely inward. Gold threads the fractures without repairing them. The image does not perform rupture — it has already occurred.
