A figure kneels, folded inward, head bowed, one hand pressed flat against the chest. The skin at the shoulder and neck holds its flesh tone — warm, particulate — while below and around it, teal and gold spread across the body in cellular patterning: circles and mesh, gilded where the surface has cracked or opened.
The image operates on a slow exchange. Where the body is most present — face, hand, bare feet — it remains unornamented. Where it curves away or recedes, the patterning advances, claiming the surface without covering it. Neither state completes the other. The figure does not resist the material moving across it, and that is the specific discomfort the image holds.

Artist
SaintPixel is an art project created by Mikael Gueguen, who was born in France in the 1970s. He trained in applied arts and fine arts, including a two-year apprenticeship in decorative painting (wood and marble finishes, large-scale scenic designs, and trompe l'œil). An IT entrepreneur in the 2000s, he returned to artistic and manual practice, working today at the intersection of traditional media and generative AI.
