A figure folds into itself — head bowed, spine curved into a tight arc, knees drawn close to the chest. The body is layered: planes of dark graphite and oxidized copper separate at the contours, each carrying its own texture of scored mineral and patinated bronze. The ground behind it is pale plaster, worn at the edges. The layering is not shadow. Each plane reads as a distinct state of the same mass — compressed, then lifted free, then compressed again. The hands hang open at the wrist, unresolved. Nothing in the posture names what it is doing: the fold is total, the surface multiple, and the body holds both without choosing between them.
