Five panels, one sustained inquiry. Hatched line — dense, directional, laid in competing angles — builds each figure from the inside out: seated postures, folded arms, heads tilted or missing entirely. The central column runs full height, a figure more compressed and more erased than the four surrounding it, its face replaced by faceted planes of white. Warm oxide intrudes at the edges of three panels, a ground bleeding through the structure. The figures do not illustrate one another. Each holds a different degree of resolution — one reads as drawing, another as volume, a third as diagram of a body that was once present. The hatching does not render form; it proposes it, then withdraws the offer. What accumulates across the five panels is not a study of the figure but a record of how many ways a body can fail to fully appear.
