View full details
A head in profile, turned left, viewed from close range. The skull above is stripped to bone and cracked pigment — red, ochre, mineral blue. Below it, the face unfolds in layered bands: ivory and deep navy wound into a spiral that pulls inward, toward a black void at its centre. The ear remains intact, pressed and soft against the surrounding exposure. Vertebrae emerge at the right edge, stripped and sequential. The image holds two simultaneous anatomies. One is structural — bone, cartilage, the mechanical column of the spine — and reads with clinical precision. The other is impossible: the same body opened into swirling strata, red filaments crossing every layer, a mouth full of teeth curving away from the jaw that produced it. Neither reading cancels the other. The face does not ask to be reassembled.
