A figure seen from behind, head turned slightly left, torso broad and frontal. The silhouette holds its mass in deep black — sealed, complete — while the interior of the body has been opened into a grid of rectangular sections, each carrying a different material state: teal-marbled plaster, raw ochre, burnt red, dark pigment thickened like tar. A pale disc, architectural and weightless, sits behind the shoulders like a halo that predates religion. The black outline and the fractured interior do not belong to the same image. The outline proposes a body; the interior proposes the contents of a wall, a floor, a site that has absorbed decades of use. Neither reading cancels the other. The red at the lower torso is not symbolic — it is the one place where the material refuses to be neutral, where the body insists on something interior that the grid cannot contain.
